Grove Neck Bank Barn

Located in Earleville, Maryland the Bank Barn is part of the Grove Farm Wildlife Management Area managed by the Department of Natural Resource. The Bank Barn illustrates characteristics of an “extended supported-forebay barn” commonly found in southeastern Pennsylvania built between 1800 and 1920.

Bathon Builders completed structural repairs to stabilize the barn. We selectively replaced wooden rim beams, replaced damaged floor joists and associated floor boards, replaced wooden siding as necessary, repaired and/or replaced girt members and kickers. On the back of the barn you will noticed we installed historically replicated board and batten double wooden doors that were hung with large strap hinges. The intent of these repairs was to restore the weathered damaged or failed barn timbers with “in kind” material using some traditional methods.
